The Tucson Convention Center (TCC),
is a large multi-purpose center that was built in 1971. It
houses a 9,275 seat indoor arena,
two performing
arts venues,
over 25000 square feet of meeting areas.
The center has hosted a large variety of events from Barnum and Bailey
Circus, WWE wrestling and The enoumous Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. Additionally
many public and private events are in the schedule. The ice arena
is currently home to the UofA Icecats.
There will likely be changes in the near future as a new 12,500 seat
arena has been proposed. This could allow for minor hockey teams
to play as well as arena football. A larger arena would draw
the bigger name performers. Aditionally as many as 10 new meeting
rooms will be added.
Along with the plans for the larger facility are plans for over 4,000
new parking spaces.
